Gosia Grześkiewicz (Software Tester)

How did you hear about the Summer Internship Program at Aspire Systems?

I heard about the internship program from an Aspire employee, who had also participated in such an internship a few years earlier and recommended the company to me. I believe that a recommendation by an employee is the best determinant of building a positive image of the company.

What was the recruitment process like?

What I really liked about the recruitment process was the Open Day online webinar at Aspire. The Webinar allowed me to get to know the company, its values and people. It was very well prepared, enabling the candidates to ask most of their questions and get answers. All important information such as the date of the test and dates of invitation to interviews were sent in advance. If there were any delays, we were kept informed about them as well. During the interview, which took place in the company’s office, I felt very comfortable, almost like at home.

The recruitment process for the internship began with a test, on the basis of which candidates were invited to interviews (HR and technical). Then, you need to wait patiently for the result.

What did you do during the internship?

Practically from the first day of my internship, I found myself working in a commercial project. After getting acquainted with the business domains, under the watchful eye of my ‘buddy’, I performed manual tests, wrote documentation, and created test cases. I tested applications using various tools (Postman, SQL – working with the DBeaver database, Notepad ++, Excel).

But not to be so colorful – if someone is an early bird, and is first in the office and likes to drink coffee in the morning, he will be familiar with the operation of the coffee machine (starting, cleaning, etc.) ?

Were the tasks you performed more individual or group ones?

I performed the tasks individually, but under the watchful eye of my ‘buddy’, who supported me and gave me valuable tips. I could also count on the help of the rest of the team, who supported me with their knowledge and experience if I needed it.

Who would you recommend the internship program at Aspire Systems to?

The internship is an ideal way to test your skills in the professional world and test your knowledge and skills acquired during your studies. It is also a great option for those who want to change industries for some reason. I am an example of the latter option, where, after several years of work in a different industry, I took up the challenge of changing my professional path and am trying my hand as a software tester.

The Aspire Internship was full of challenges, brought many opportunities for me, and I discovered new skills which gave me the opportunity to get to know the IT world and many wonderful people, but most of all it gave me faith that you can achieve anything you want.

How did you hear about the Summer Internship Program at Aspire Systems?

I heard about the Summer Internship program at Aspire from my friends. They knew I was looking for my first IT job, and they sent me a link to the advertisement so that I could check if it was suitable for me.

What was the recruitment process like?

The first stage of the recruitment process was a test that verified technical skills. Then a short phone call to verify the knowledge of the English language. After these two stages, I was invited to an interview with the company. Here, the HR and technical part took place, and I also had the pleasure of visiting the office.

Were the tasks you performed more individual or group tasks?

Each trainee was given tasks to do in projects that are actually brought to the market. After the team members introduced and explained ‘what’s going on’, the task could begin. If there were any doubts or problems, we tried to solve them as a group.

At the recruitment stage, you probably had some idea of Aspire Systems Poland. When you got into the program, did something positively surprise you?

What surprised me the most about Aspire is that you can meet so many positive and smiling people in one place. After we were introduced to the team, there was no difference between the interns and the ‘old’ or existing employees. Everyone talked to each other as if they had known each other for years, not for several minutes. When I joined the internship, I also did not expect that we would start working on a real project right away. Thanks to this, the motivation to work was even greater, because I did not feel that my work would be wasted.

Who would you recommend the internship program at Aspire Systems to?

I would recommend the internship program at Aspire Systems to anyone who begins their adventure in IT, who wants to develop and learn, and at the same time likes to be surrounded by positively crazy people.

How did you hear about the Summer Internship program at Aspire Systems?

I found out about the Summer Internship program at Aspire through the pracuj.pl portal. I found the rest of the information on the Aspire website.

What did you do during the internship?

During my internship, I had the pleasure to work in both international and internal projects. In the Dutch project, I was responsible for programming statistical reports selected by the client regarding beauty and hairdressing salons. However, in the internal project – LoG (League of Geeks), I had the opportunity to try my skills as a Full Stack Developer.

Were the tasks that you performed individual or group tasks?

The tasks I was working on were more individual. Thanks to this, I was able to create a given part of the project from start to finish and learn a lot at the same time.

What did you learn during these 3 months of internship?

The amount of knowledge I gained in such a short time is indescribable. I was a member of a tight team and participated in numerous meetings (daily meetings, retrospectives, planning and poker sessions, etc.). I saw what it was like to work in a very extensive and complicated project. I worked with talented people who took care of me and helped me develop my ‘programming wings’ :)

At the recruitment stage, you probably had some idea of Aspire Systems Poland. Later, when you got into the program, did something positively surprise you?

Aspire’s internship offer was different from the others. The company emphasized the importance it puts on a good atmosphere at work and the personal development of each employee. I was surprised by the very friendly attitude of all employees towards new people.

Who would you recommend the internship program at Aspire Systems to?

I recommend the internship program at Aspire Systems to all those who would like to gain a lot of experience and knowledge in a very short time. This will certainly be useful in their future programming career.

Michał Karnath (Frontend Developer)

What was the recruitment process like?

The recruitment process was divided into three stages (before each stage I was contacted by an HR department employee):

-completing a knowledge verification test (remotely),

-interview with an HR recruiter and technical recruiter (stationary),

-interview with Aspire Systems Poland Central Head (stationary).

What did you do during the internship?

During the internship, I was assigned to a project, where I solved current tasks under the supervision of my internship supervisor and the rest of the team.

Were the tasks that you performed more individual or group ones?

I performed the tasks assigned to me individually, however, many times they required consultation or cooperation with the internship supervisor and other team members.

What did you learn during these 3 months of the internship?

During the internship, I learned how to work in a project team in the Agile (Scrum) methodology. I have gained valuable design experience in the field of application development and cooperation with a foreign client. I acquired and developed skills in working with frontend frameworks: Angular and Vue.
