The Cloud is hot and you already noticed, didn’t you? For different reasons an increasing amount of organisations is moving applications towards the cloud. This week’s data presented by Amazon shows the amount of objects on their platform has more than doubled in the past year. The peak request rate for Amazon S3 is now in excess of 200,000 requests per second.
Here are the stats, measured at the end of the fourth quarter of each year:
- 2006 – 2.9 billion objects
- 2007 – 14 billion objects
- 2008 – 40 billion objects
- 2009 – 102 billion objects
- 2010 – 262 billion objects
